Privacy policy
Ownclock is a time tracker and invoice maker. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. There is no Ownclock account, and we don't sell your personal information.
Your work data stays on your device
Your time entries, clients, projects, rates, invoices, business details and settings are stored in a database file on your device. Ownclock does not send them to us or to anyone else. Daily backup copies are kept in the app's own folder on the same device. Files you import (such as a Harvest CSV) or export (PDF invoices, backups) are read and written only where you choose.
Advertising (Google AdMob, Android only)
The Android app is free and shows optional rewarded videos and occasional full-screen ads after you finish a task, through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- approximate location derived from your IP address,
- information about how you interact with ads, and basic device and app information.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time under Settings › Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. Ads never see your time entries, clients or invoices.
Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. The Windows app shows no ads.
Usage analytics (Google Firebase Analytics, Android only)
The Android app may send anonymous usage events to Google Firebase Analytics, such as earning or spending coins, collecting the daily check-in, watching a rewarded video or turning reminders on or off. These events are tied to a random app-instance identifier, never to your name, email, clients or amounts. Firebase may also collect basic device information such as model and operating-system version.
Licence keys (Lemon Squeezy)
If you buy an Ownclock licence, the purchase is handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record and processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. We receive your order details (such as name, email and country) from Lemon Squeezy so we can support your purchase.
When you enter a licence key in the app, it sends the key and a random install name (for example "ownclock-3fa91c2e", not your device or computer name) to Lemon Squeezy to activate it, and occasionally re-checks it when you're online. Nothing else is sent.
Payment links on invoices
If you add a Stripe or Razorpay payment link, it is printed on your invoices. Ownclock does not process payments or see payment details; your clients pay through Stripe or Razorpay directly.
Notifications (Android)
If you allow notifications, Ownclock shows an evening reminder to log your hours. Reminders are scheduled on your phone and need no server. Turn them off in Settings or in Android's notification settings.
Website video
The teaser video on ownclock.pages.dev loads from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you press play. YouTube may then set cookies under Google's privacy policy.
Children
Ownclock is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security and retention
Data sent to Google's advertising and analytics services and to Lemon Squeezy travels over encrypted connections and is kept according to their policies. Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Your choices
- Change ad consent in Settings › Ad privacy choices (where offered).
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
- Turn off reminders in Settings.
- Remove a licence from a device in Settings.
- Delete all local data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
